About Abby
As a mom to two Eden Prairie Schools students, a former Eden Prairie substitute teacher, and an active volunteer in Eden Prairie classrooms, Abby Libsack has seen firsthand the great work that our Eden Prairie school district is doing.
Abby has long been passionate about education, earning a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s in Curriculum and teaching 5th grade from 2002 until 2005, when her daughter was born. As soon as the family moved to Eden Prairie, she dove into the community’s classrooms.
Volunteering in the high school math center, with local baseball teams as a team mom, and with the volleyball association as a board member, Abby has given her time whenever and wherever needed. In the classroom, she has helped with parties, field trips, paper grading, and school fundraisers
Her dedication to Eden Prairie Schools led Abby to step in as a substitute teacher for the school district from 2016 until the beginning of the pandemic. Now she is ready to serve in a new way, as a member of the Eden Prairie School Board.
Experience
After earning a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Northwest Missouri State and a master’s in curriculum from the University of Colorado Boulder, Abby began teaching in 2002. When her daughter Carley was born, she took a step back from day-to-day teaching but quickly invested herself in the classroom in other ways.
For over a decade, she has been volunteering in Eden Prairie Schools classrooms. In her work as a substitute teacher, field trip chaperone, Eden Prairie Volleyball Association board member, fundraiser, and math center volunteer, Abby has seen all of the wonderful things that Eden Prairie schools have to offer.
Now, she wants to offer her more than two decades of educational experience, both as a teacher and a parent, back to the community and school district that have nurtured her family.
Excellence
Abby’s desire in running for school board is not to push a specific agenda, but to provide steadfast support to our community’s civil servants who are giving so much of themselves to their students. Eden Prairie has made incredible strides, offering individualized experiences and narrowing the achievement gap while preparing our students for the world after high school.
Because of this strong track record, Abby supports the current agenda and strategies of Eden Prairie Schools. Personalizing learning and eliminating achievement disparities are essential in achieving the district’s mission. The district’s plan, core values, and mission are developed by competent staff who care about the success of each student.
Having seen the classroom through the eyes of both educator and mother Abby knows that for our students’ success to continue, teachers and families must have a voice in district decisions. As a school board member, Abby will keep both perspectives in view and work tirelessly to support the front lines of Eden Prairie’s schools.
Enthusiasm
Although our entire Eden Prairie community rallies around our students and teachers, Abby’s enthusiasm for education, and specifically for Eden Prairie Schools, is unmatched. After dedicating her own academic career to childhood education and teaching for several years, she continued to serve the school district as a volunteer in a wide variety of roles. She’s done everything from grading papers and helping with the school carnival to tutoring math and sitting on the board of the volleyball association. She has proudly sent her two children to Eden Prairie schools and has seen the incredible impact that our teachers and administrators have made on them.
Abby Libsack cares about the community, Eden Prairie’s children, and the considerable work to be done. She is ready to bring tireless energy and considerable expertise to the challenges that face the school board. Abby has been giving back to her community for over two decades and, with your vote, she looks forward to continuing that trend for many years to come.
